In an era where artificial intelligence is reshaping education, equipping educators with AI literacy and innovative teaching strategies is essential. Acknowledging this need, SPUP’s College of Teacher Education, in collaboration with the World Council for Curriculum and Instruction (WCCI) organized an AI-focused webinar series.
The first session was held on February 22, 2025. Led by the speaker, Ms. Imelda Agorto, MAIDT, (Professor, School of Arts, Sciences, and Teacher Education of SPUP), the discussion focused on “AI Literacy & Application for Teaching and Learning.” The speaker highlighted the importance of AI literacy in developing engaging, adaptive, and student-centered learning environments, while also addressing challenges and ethical considerations. Furthermore, she facilitated an insightful discussion and gained a deeper understanding of AI’s transformative role in education.
As artificial intelligence continues to shape the future of education, ongoing learning and adaptation are crucial for educators to maximize its potential responsibly. Because of this SPUP’s Teacher Education program is committed to collaborate and forge partnership with organizations like the WCCI (a non-governmental organization of the United Nations in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council) in promoting AI-driven and transformative education and fostering a global network of forward-thinking educators dedicated to innovation and excellence.
The pioneering activity was participated in by teachers, students and school administrators from educational institutions in the Philippines (particularly from CALABARZON, Cagayan Valley and Metropolitan Manila regions), organizations (such as TESDA, DSWD, and Asian Development Bank) and from other countries (like Saudi Arabia).
